Quilting is Antoinette's meditation, allowing her to feel connected to the Spirit, to honor her heritage and her ancestors while creating new offerings of loving comfort and artistic expression for the present and the future. She started quilting and collecting African fabrics in the early 1990's, and when she discovered art quilts, she began showcasing them in her work.

This piece began as part of a separate project, when I realized it needed to stand on its own. The colors and textures remind me of new life.

When my brother turned 40, he asked for artwork for his birthday. I asked his favorite color. I chose fabrics based on his reply and went to work. Blue Mask is what the Spirit and my love gave me for him.
